Atlanta Bat Mitzvah at The Temple by Ric Mershon Photography

September 2nd, 2010

So, if you love summer camp and want your Bat Mitzvah to be in-the-woods-summer-camp themed, but your party is scheduled for February (when it’s COLD), what do you do?  Move the outside inside and celebrate as if you were among the trees anyways.  Olivia Weinstein (sister of Emma whose Tiffany’s themed Mitzvah we featured here) had visions of summer-time fun her for Bat Mitzvah celebration, but when the schedule came in, February just wasn’t going to be cohesive with an outdoor event.  So, Atlanta Party Planner, Sharon Fisher of It’s My Party, Inc worked with Olivia’s mom and the decor duo over at Tulip to create a camp-like ambiance indoors with tall trees, topiary, daisies, grass-like carpet, patio furniture, etc and enlisted Atlanta Photographer, Ric Mershon to capture this epic day.

A beautifully detailed orange peony graphic, that first appeared on the invitations created by Luxe Expressions, became the common theme used throughout.  It appeared on party favors, napkins, topped candy-filled mason jars, and tote-bags.  Olivia’s favorite color is orange and it matched the theme of the event so well.

Wedding Videography Idea :: A Music Video

August 31st, 2010

Jordan and Brad’s recent wedding at Whitewater Creek was quite cute, but their wedding video by Toad Productions, takes the cake for most creative wedding video I’ve seen yet.  Rather than the traditional, our quirky couple staged a music video to Ke$ha’s song, Your Love Is My Drug. Check it out.

Whitewater Creek Country Club Wedding by Graceology Photography

August 31st, 2010

What do teal and purple, strands of pearls, feathers, top hats, coat tails and jewels have in common?  They were all components of Jordan and Brad’s Old Vintage Hollywood Glam wedding on June 5, 2010.  The couple chose Whitewater Creek Country in Fayetteville, GA as their reception & ceremony site and friends, Graceology Photography captured all the details of the day.

Whitewater Creek Country Club is an estately event venue with an old southern plantation style architecture.  Their wedding ceremony took place on the venue’s outdoor porch and guests moved into the country club’s ballroom decorated with turquoise linens and feather centerpieces for the reception.

graceology-photographyfayetteville-georgia-weddingOur bride Jordan did a fantastic job pulling all the details together and using a consistent color palette wherever she could.  The gorgeous Tiffany blue is a bold choice paired with deep purple for the bridal party’s bouquet.  Even the teal fan programs (perfect for outdoor ceremonies) matched the glimpse of teal fabric found in the bridesmaid’s gowns.

graceology-photographyfayetteville-georgia-weddingSweet Sensations, a Newnan bakery, did a fantastic job on the cake design.  The jewels made of sugar perfectly matched the bride’s necklace.  Coincidence?  I think not.  ;-)

graceology-photographyJordan and Brad weren’t celebrating just their love on their wedding day, it was their guest’s they wanted to celebrate too.  So, to make their event unique the couple decorated the mantle in the ballroom at Whitewater Creek Country Club with wedding pictures of all their friends and family as a playful twist on their decorations and details.

Purple & Orange Reception Decor

August 30th, 2010

I’m in love with the orange roses in this post.  Maybe it’s because fall is right around the corner, or maybe it’s because, paired with purple, the color combo is literally luscious.  Atlanta Wedding Photographer, Nancy Jo McDaniel of NJM Photography was on location at the recent A Tony Evening Gala at the new Loews Atlanta Hotel to capture the design and decor orchestrated by Designer Sophia Lin of  A Legendary Event. I’m so glad the images made it into my hands because this color combo is HOT and a rare one at that. Enjoy the centerpiece and decor inspiration below!

a-legendary-eventWhat I love about the centerpieces is that they are constructed of glass trays and cubes used to create several levels.  The small cubes were filled to the brim in orange roses and purple orchids and paired with a tall lamp in a coordinating color.  The gold accents in the napkins and table linens matched the candlelight and tied everything together nicely.

Here’s what A Legendary Event had to say about the centerpieces Sophia put together…  “The centerpieces for the tables were a perfect marriage of traditional beauty mixed with modern style. Each centerpiece was constructed with a composition of stacked clear and turquoise colored glass for a glistening effect with the room lighting. These centerpieces contained a mixture of golden and orange toned florals mixed with deep purple blooms. Conventional florals such as hydrangea, roses and tulips were mixed with orchids, mums and other bold florals for a full yet simple look. A sleek crystal base table lamp was added to the composition and topped with an ivory tapered shade. Square votives were also used in the centerpiece, which again created a sense of modern style.”

I’m a huge fan of branding your event.  That means creating a custom “logo” for the occasion and using it throughout.  For this event, the A Tony Evening logo was used on large displays, invitations, advertisements and even the menu cards shown above.  A Legendary Event says …..  “The logo, capturing the essence of classic style and elegance with filigree patterns, it also portrayed a contemporary edge with its paint-like splatter design and unconventional color scheme.  Utilizing a mixture of soft and bold purple tones combined with dark blue, turquoise and gold, the jewel tones came to life in the neutral hotel palette and brought energy and life to this theatrical but sophisticated gala evening.”

Wimbish House Rehearsal Dinner by Melissa Schollaert Photography

August 25th, 2010

So many times, weddings get all the glory and rehearsal dinners are a mere afterthought.  Not today.  Lindsay Pitt, orchestrator of weddings and social celebrations at Toast Signature Celebrations, cornered me at one of our recent events and said I just had to see one of her recent rehearsal dinners shot by Melissa Schollaert Photography.  Her bride and groom, Lindsey and Tyler’s rehearsal dinner (thrown by mother-and-father-of-the-groom extraordinaires, Lynda and Thom) was a masterful example of what fine details, plus southern hospitality can equal…a well planned party for out of town guests.  I’m thrilled to share it with you today!

Together, Lindsay and Lynda, chose The Wimbish House because its sparkling chandeliers, high arched doorways, and carved fireplaces set the stage for an elegant rehearsal dinner and its uniquely Southern beauty and historical significance to Atlanta were appropriate seeing as though the bride and groom are both natives and current residents of the city.

On the decor, Lynda explains “I used white hydrangeas in julep cups, along with candles in square frosted votives, to adorn the mantels and tabletops in the beautiful, historic rooms.  The fireplace hearths featured candles in tall vellum-wrapped candle holders, and a jazz pianist at one of the venue’s grand pianos added the perfect musical accompaniment to the evening.

For the three-course dinner presented by Affairs to Remember in the Wimbish ballroom, we added gold to the black and white color theme.  I chose black and white linens, gold chargers, and black and white china, topped off with tiny gold boxes of chocolates tied with black and white striped ribbons. Dinner table centerpieces featured more white hydrangeas in black square vases and candles in several sizes.  We did not want any guests to feel they were seated in the back of the room, so we put the bride and groom’s table the middle of the ballroom and highlighted it with a tall vase of white hydrangeas and black willow.  As a different twist on place cards, I created folded welcome and menu cards, each individualized with the guest’s name.

melissa-schollaert-photographymelissa-schollaert-photographyTo cool down the guests our MOG and party planner duo served Mint Juleps.  Lynda says  “To honor the bride and groom’s Southern heritage and to give their guests from other parts of the country a taste of traditional Southern style, we chose mint juleps served in traditional silver cups as the signature drink for the cocktail hour.  Silver frames on the bar displayed a history of the revered Southern drink.”

And if this rehearsal dinner couldn’t get any cuter, they even customized the entertainment for guests.  Lynda tell us “Following toasts by family and by friends of the bride and groom from college and law school, the guests were treated to a rousing performance by members of the groom’s college a cappella singing group, The Baker’s Dozen of Yale, conducted by the groom.”
